UK to Nepal - A FABulous Journey Mr. Luke Parsons

My name is Luke Parsons and I am a recent university graduate from the UK. I first heard about the GATE FAB hospitality school from a contact at Right4Children and was immediately intrigued. I found its real-world approach to education and training unique and having just worked for 8 months in hospitality as a bartender I was very keen to get involved in any way possible.

Luckily I was able to come to Nepal, see the beautiful school and meet its students for myself. My aim was to help the incredibly passionate team at FAB in any way possible and also to learn a lot from both them and the students. Since my arrival three weeks ago, I have so far been teaching customer service skills in English to the students who constantly surprise me with their progress and attitude. I have also been using my background in Economics to assist the team in their proposals for a FAB restaurant which will help train the students and also showcase the school.

I am extremely excited for the future of the GATE FAB school - I know the restaurant will be a success and that it will be quickly followed by businesses in laundry and dairy production which will offer the students even more training opportunities. I am also eager to see the current class graduate and to see their progress by the end of their course. I am sure they will leave with a new-found confidence and with skills to ensure they have successful careers.
